Why I Created the Roller Ball Trio

There’s something deeply personal about finding your scent, it’s intimate, emotional, and often tied to memory. Over the years, I’ve watched people fall in love with one Leland Francis fragrance after another, but I also noticed the hesitation: What if I pick the wrong one? What if I love more than one?

Earlier this year, I started experimenting in my studio with formulating roller ball fragrances using organic MCT oil. I wanted to create a way for people to experience our scents, to carry them, layer them, and live with them, but I wasn’t sure when or if I’d ever launch them.

Then, during a visit to Domecil in Santa Barbara, the store owner, Stephanie, asked if I was doing anything special for the holidays. I happened to have the roller prototypes in my bag, I’d been using them myself because they were so much easier to travel with, and I said, “I hadn’t planned on it, but I could do a trio.” Stephanie and her team immediately loved the idea.

So I got scrappy, went to my lab and started pouring 30% fragrance oil,  into organic MCT oil, letting it macerate, designing the box, filling, labeling, and hand-boxing each set myself.

The result is the Roller Ball Trio, featuring El Santo, La Reina, and Stoner, three of our top-selling scents, each telling a distinct story that reflects a different side of the same soul. Crafted with our signature natural oils, these perfumes are long-wearing, gender-inclusive, and designed for travel or daily ritual.
