Everyone called him J.F. James Franklin McRee was my great-grandfather. A farmer, a caretaker of the land that surrounded his house. I did get to meet him. What I remember are small things. Violet candies. Butterscotch. Guinea hens roaming the garden. The quiet presence of his tobacco pipe. Franklin is that memory. Specific. Warm. A little sweet.
Franklin creates a warm, intimate atmosphere with depth and shadow. Black pepper and bergamot open with quiet spice, giving way to clary sage and violet. As the candle burns, African marigold, sandalwood, labdanum, and vetiver emerge, leaving a smooth, lingering warmth in the space.

Ritual
Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn.
On first use, allow the wax to melt fully to the edge of the vessel. This sets the memory of the wax and ensures an even burn throughout the life of the candle.
Keep away from drafts. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Discontinue use when 1/2 inch of wax remains.
