Article: What Natural Fragrance Really Means

What Natural Fragrance Really Means

There is a lot of noise around the word “clean.”

It has become a category. A label. Something that can be applied loosely.

At Leland Francis, it has always meant something specific.

From the beginning, the decision was to work with materials that come from the earth, not made to imitate it.

Our fragrances are composed of 100% naturally derived aromatic materials. No synthetic fragrance compounds.

This choice changes everything.

Natural fragrance does not behave the same way. It wears closer to the skin. It evolves more quietly. It does not announce itself when you enter a room.

It becomes part of you.

For some, that is unexpected. Especially if you are used to traditional fragrance that is designed for projection and longevity above all else.

But for us, it is the point.

Fragrance should feel alive. It should shift with the body, with the air, with the moment. It should not sit on top of the skin. It should move with it.

The same thinking applies to everything we make.

Our candles are poured with plant-based waxes.

Our fragrances are blended with organic sugarcane alcohol.

Our skincare is developed with plant-based ingredients, chosen for how they support the skin over time, not overwhelm it.

It is more difficult to work this way. It is more expensive. It is less predictable.

But it is more honest.

Earth Month tends to bring attention to these ideas.

For us, it is simply a reflection of how the brand was built.

If you are new to Leland Francis, the Introduction Set is a place to begin.

If you have been here for a while, thank you for being part of this.
